Hi everyone,
It’s been a while since my last blog post and I figured I would use this opportunity to update folks on what I’ve been up to in 2020. Since Covid I’ve found myself with an abundance of free time, so I’ve spent most of it writing as much as possible. Since quarantine officially started, I’ve composed over 30 pieces of music. In addition to some of the work I had been doing since 2019, I’ve been grateful to pick up a lot of exciting new projects I’d like to shout out.
Quartet:
The newest addition to the Something Classic studio, this is the follow up to Shadows of Adam. Featuring an 8-person party with swapping combat, Quartet should delight fans of fast paced turn based battles and deep character stories. I’m serving as producer and composer for this project and am joined by Patrick Holleman (director/writer), Tim Wendorf (art), and Tyler Deren (programmer/developer). I’ll write some more blog posts specifically on my musical approach to this game in the future!
My Familiar:
Being developed by Excavate Studios, My Familiar is a super cool retro turn based RPG with a style heavily inspired by 90’s animation. The music explores a wide range of genres including funk, RnB, jazz, pop and ska. It also features some KILLER live musicians including Aaron Hedenstrom (saxophone), Lindsey Miller (guitar) and legendary LA studio trumpet player Wayne Bergeron among many others. I’m having a blast writing the music for this game!
Numetry:
Numetry is an interesting educational game being developed by Eduplaytion Studios in Norway. The game is set in the vast Mathema Universe and is aimed to teach young students the principles of mathematics. I’ve enjoyed working on this ambient and spacey sound track.
Diaconia: The Keepers:
Diaconia: The Keepers is the debut project from A-ga-pe Games Studios. Featuring a deep morality system and a Gothic flavored setting with turn based battles. The music takes on a chamber approach with frequent use of solo strings and harpsichord. Stay tuned for more updates on this game!
Swing:
The aptly titled, Swing, is a Metroidvania with run and gun gameplay and an inter connected map. As you might suspect from the title, the music will feature vibrant swing and jazz music! We will also be using lots of wonderful live jazz musicians, please look forward to that!
Thank you for reading this blog post and please support these wonderful developers. If you’re a developer yourself and you’d like to work with me, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: tm0135 at gmail dot com. I post daily music on my twitter and stream every weekday from 11am-2pm EDT – I’d love to hear from you!
Best,
Tyler
